43 people have perished in a plane crash in Russia, among them was a former Wheat King, NHLer and coach Brad McCrimmon. The plane crashed 250km North of Moscow near Yaroslavl as it took off for Belarus. 43 people were killed and two have survived the crash. The plane was full of players for the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey team which McCrimmon had just commenced coaching. Yet another unfortunately loss for so many young lives and the NHL.

Each year over 2 million visitors come and see events at the Keystone Centre for events such as Alice Cooper, Guess Who, The Beach Boys, Nickelback, Great Big Sea, Buck Cherry, Tim McGraw and many other musicians and events such as the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair, the Summer Fair, Motocross events and the upcoming Memorial Cup from May 14 to May 23.

The ice can also be converted to be used for curling events such as the Scott Tournament of Hearts. The arena was recently renamed the Westman Communications Group Place.

The Keystone Centre is also where most trade show events happen in Brandon.

The Keystone Centre is located at #1 1175 18th Street, Brandon.

Their contact number is : (204) 726-3500

Brandon has a few skating rinks with 2 being serviced all year round. Although at the keystone center you wont be able to skate.

The real good skating starts in the winter where the city sets up a skating area beside the 18th st. bridges. It’s well lit and gets quite busy and is easily the featured attraction of our city in the winter.
